Mikulak Wins Senior All-Around Title 2020 Winter Cup Challenge

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Feb. 21, 2020 – Sam Mikulak of Newport Beach, Calif./U.S. Olympic Training Center won the senior all-around title at the 2020 Winter Cup Challenge at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.

Competition wraps up on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. PT with junior all-around and event finals and senior event finals. Fans can watch the action live via USA Gymnastics’ YouTube channel.

The final session will feature the top 28 senior athletes and the top 14 juniors. Following the first-day of competition, the top six ranked all-around athletes automatically qualified to the 2020 senior national team. Junior athletes advanced to the finals according to the all-around ranking from the first day of competition.

Mikulak won the all-around crown with his 86.800 score, ahead of Shane Wiskus of Spring Park, Minn./University of Minnesota, who scored a 84.550. Brody Malone of Summerville, Ga./Stanford University, was third at 83.950. In fourth (83.900) was Grant Breckenridge of Libertyville, Ill./Stanford University. Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./University of Oklahoma and Allan Bower of Chandler, Ariz./University of Oklahoma tied for fifth (82.350), rounding out the top six men who have been named senior National Team Members.

In the junior division, Benas sits atop the junior all-around standings with his 78.800 total. Asher Hong of Tomball, Texas/Cypress Academy, is in second with a 77.950 and Ian Lasic-Ellis of Dover, Mass./MEGA, is in third, scoring 77.400.

For the senior division, all-around ranking are determined on the first day of competition and individual event champions will be determined via a combined two-day score.
